Tản mạn: ALL YOU HEAVENLY POWERS, MARY’S LEGION OF ANGELS
(Handbook of the Legion of Mary, Chapter 24, part 6)
We wonder why the holy guardian angels became one of the Legionaries’ patronages. No different from the Archangels, who protect and accompany human beings, especially leading them to God and delivering them from sins. The Handbook declares: “The angels are a heavenly counterpart of the legionary campaign.”
If Christians believe that each person has a guardian angel who helps us live as God wills, Legionaries believe that “every legionary, active and auxiliary, has a guardian angel who fights blow for blow at his side.” This is not a fictional or made-up story, but Christians, especially Legionaries, recognize that they are sinners and not always totally free from evil; so it is important to consider the significant role of Angels and Saints.
Furthermore, why does the handbook say this battle means more to angels than to humans? Going on, thinking about the results of this battle: “to lead us forth united – to kindle everywhere the fires of divine love – to enlighten those who are in darkness and in the shadow of death – to inflame those who are lukewarm – to bring back life to those who are dead in sin.” Can we, human’s abilities, do it? Therefore, legionaries need to do the mission with the support of God, the intercession of Mother Mary, and the assistance of angels. “So the interest of the angel is most intense, and his support unfailing… They have maintained against Satan and his minions.”
